***ART by Lucie*** My favorite part of making mini dolls is painting them. For a change of pace I thought I might try painting some miniature portraits. If there is a painting that you would like to see in miniature, even of a favorite pet, please let me know and I will see what I can do. These reproductions are hand-painted with oil paints by me on archival canvas. The paintings are mounted in beautiful gold metal frames. Some are antiqued for an age-old look. The back of the paintings are professionally finished with a brown paper backing with a wire loop for hanging. It also has the artists’ name and the title displayed. This is a wonderful way to teach your children or yourself about art. As a wire hangs the portrait instead of glue, it is easily removed from your dollhouse wall to view the information. An easy way to hang the picture is to drill a tiny hole in your dollhouse wall and glue/hammer in a sewing pin that has been snipped short. The head of the pin will hold the portrait in place. This will allow you to also change the painting on occasion if you so desire. All paintings are signed and numbered.

If you have ever seen Van Gogh’s wonderful paintings in person, you will know that no photograph of it will ever do it justice! I was lucky to see his work in person at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. I was amazed how three-dimensional his paintings are. They appear to be reaching out to the viewer. I have built up the layers of paint to get a three-dimensional effect. The painting is mounted in a beautiful gold metal frame.
